Alan Barrell has taught and supported entrepreneurs with mentoring at a number of Universities including Cambridge, Oxford and London. He is a Visiting Professor at University of Sunderland and Entrepreneur in Residence, University of Portsmouth Business School, and an International Fellow at Essex University Business School. He has been awarded honorary doctoral degrees at Anglia Ruskin University where he is an International Fellow and University of Bedfordshire. Alan is a member of the International Advisory Board – Universities of Applied Science in Finland at Lahti and Laurea Universities and in China, Guest professor at University of Xiamen, Shanghai Art and Design Academy, University of Shanghai and University of International Business and Economics in Beijing. A more recent appointment has been as Member international Advisory Board Zhejiang University Academy of Online Finance. In 2018 Alan Became a director of Cambridge Innovation Academy (CIA) and its Director of Studies. Professor Barrell has planned and implemented customised workshops for the senior management team of Investors in People (Leadership), Medilink East (Funding Early stage companies) – University of Bedfordshire – “investment Readiness” and many more. He advises and teaches the executive teams of companies in the technology sector on Business Modelling and Business Planning and on Strategy Development – including “Strategies for Going International”.
